THE IMPORTANCE OF SPOKEN LANGUAGE

Singin´ in the rain is a film created in 1952. That film is really interesting because it´s the first time where playback appear in the cinema. It shows the importance of spoken language.

When Don and Lina's latest film is transformed into a musical, Don has the perfect voice for the songs. But Lina - well, even with the best efforts of a diction coach, they still decide to dub over her voice. Kathy Selden is brought in, an aspiring actress, and while she is working on the movie, Don falls in love with her. Will Kathy continue to "aspire", or will she get the break she deserves ?

IS IT REAL OR NOT?

Open your eyes and click to play!

Is this creature able to understand? There is a lot of spoken language directed by humans, apparently under the impression that the animal follows what is being said. For example a variety of circus animals go Up, Down and Roll over in response to spoken comands. And in this case Einstein dances, makes answers, makes some particular sounds etc. Should be treat the examples as evidence that non-humans can understand human language? Acourding to numerous studies probably not. The standard explanation is that the animal produces a particular behavior in response to a particular sound-stimulus or "noise", but does not actually "understand" what the words in the noise mean.

DO YOU IMAGINE THAT IT COULD BE REAL?

One question that we have thought sometimes along our life is if humans can communicate with animals. This clip show us that it's possible but I have to point that is only a film. However, if it could happen in the real life... What would you do? Would you like or not? Do you think that it would serve for something?

Dr.Dolittle is a 1998 American family comedy film starring Eddie Murphy as a doctor who discovers that he has the ability to talk (and understand animals.
It´s fun to see the reaction of Doctor Dolittle and his friends and animals becouse is something totally unreal.

FROM BABIES TO ADULTS

The brain at an early age has a great capacity for learning. This is the time to acquire knowledge in the various skills and language skills. But over the years, the brain is structured and is more difficult to obtain these skills. These videos show the big difference of the rhythm learning between babies and adults.

Young Helen Keller, blind, deaf, and mute since infancy, is in danger of being sent to an institution. Her inability to communicate has left her frustrated and violent. In desperation, her parents seek help from the Perkins Institute, which sends them a "half-blind Yankee schoolgirl" named Annie Sullivan to tutor their daughter. Through persistence and love, and sheer stubbornness, Annie breaks through Helen's walls of silence and darkness and teaches her to communicate.

My Fair Lady is the story of Eliza Doolittle - a young London woman with a very strong London accent - and Professor Higins - the man who decides to teach her to speak English without her accent. This is a story about the way the English think about people who speak their language with different accent.

THE ORIGINS OF LANGUAGE

After apreciating the importance of language, let's move its origins. This video shows one of the lots speculations about the origin of spoken language.

The quest of fire is a film that show us the primitive language for the early humans in this prehistoric adventure about a trio of warriors who travel the savanna in search of a flame that would replace the fire their tribe has lost.

It's based on the natural sound source. The suggestion is that primitive words could have been imitations of the natural sounds which early men an women heard around them. In fact, in Britain, this type of view has been called ''bow-wow'' theory of language origin. But this is not the only one theory about the origins of language, here are more ones you can check in the link below:

WHAT'S YOUR VOICE'S PRICE?

Do you imagine selling your voice? That was what she did... She gave her voice to a witch in exchange of a pair of legs.

Now that you haven't got voice, how would you do to comunicate with someone? This video is an example which show us the difficulty of communicating with someone without verbal lenguage.
